Switching to HostingCT

Unhappy with your host and want to switch to Hosting Connecticut? We'll help! It's not as hard as it may seem. Just following these steps and you'll be switched in no time!

  1. Sign up for hosting with HostingCT. You'll receive a Welcome email from us as soon as your account is set up.
  2. Login to your control panel (or your FTP program) with the info from your Welcome email and transfer your files to your new space with us. Read more in our Support Manual under File Manager.
  3. Change the name servers on your domain name by contacting your registrar or logging into your registrar's account management to make the change. Our name servers are ns.52601.com and ns2.52601.com. It will take up to 48 hours after that for your site to be live on our server and you can cancel your old host. (If you don't know with whom you registered your domain name, check to see where your domain name was registered.)
  4. If you use your domain name for email addresses (mike@yourdomainname.com), you'll need to set up your email addresses in your Mail Manager and you want to check your email by ip address instead of the domain name during those 48 hours so you don't miss any email. Instructions can be found in our support manual. Your mail server with us will be mail.yourdomain.com
  5. If you use any special scripts (for forms, shopping cart, etc) be sure to install them on your new server with us. (Our support manual has info on formmail, for instance)
  6. If you are also transferring your domain name to us, let us know when the nameservers have been changed (see #3 above) and we'll initiate the transfer. You will receive two emails that you must reply to to confirm the transfer. These will be sent to the email address noted as your administrative contact on the domain record.
  7.
