What's a database?

A database allows you to store and organize information. Along with certain scripting, like PHP for instance, you can call data out of the database as users click different links, or activate forms.

If you want to update your site content yourself without any knowledge of html, your solution is a database-driven site. Some popular uses for databases are:

If you've got tons on information to keep track of, a database is the way to go. If you have 100 or fewer products or articles, html may be a better choice since the text, headings, and alt text of html pags are indexable by the search engines while dynamic content is not.
